SANTA ANA, Calif. (November 2, 2021) — On November 17, 2021, the County of Orange in partnership with the Orange County Workforce Development Board Veterans Employment-Related Assistance Program (VEAP) will host its first Veterans and Military Family Career Fair. This free event will be in-person and open to veterans and military members within 180 days of separation from active duty as well as their dependents.

The United States Bureau of Labor Statistics reported the jobless rate for all veterans increased to 6.5% in 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Veterans and Military Family Career Fair will allow veterans to showcase their diverse range of military transferable skills and connect with high-profile employers with open positions geared toward expertise gained while on active duty.

Participating employers will include in-demand employment sector companies ranging from service industries to high-level corporate and technical organizations. Job seekers can expect employers to collect resumes, interview prospective employees, and potentially hire on the spot.

To help participants prepare for the job fair, the Orange County Workforce Solutions Center is currently offering free workshops in-person and online including resume writing and interview techniques. For a full workshop calendar, visit oconestop.com/workshops.
